🔥 Kindling — Chapter 1 : Creation’s First Sermon
If the questions feel too big, don’t try to answer all of them.
Start with just one:
What part of creation speaks to you most strongly of the Divine presence?
Pause before you think.
Look around you — or step outside if you can.
Find one thing:
the sky, a tree, the wind, sunlight on a surface, even the quiet in a room.
Stay with it for a moment longer than you normally would.
Now ask:
What is this giving?
Is it holding something together?
Offering something freely?
Moving?
Resting?
Let your answer be simple.
Now take a second question:
How might you practice listening to creation this week?
Don’t overcomplicate it.
Choose one small action:
a walk without your phone,
a moment of stillness in the morning,
looking up instead of down for once.
That’s your practice.
Finally, consider:
Where do you see generosity in creation?
Think in concrete terms:
food from the ground,
air you didn’t earn,
water that keeps showing up.
You are surrounded by things that give without asking.
You don’t need a perfect answer.
You just need to notice.
That’s where the listening begins.
