🔥 Kindling — Chapter 3 — Lessons in Biology

If the language feels heavy, bring it into your own life.

Start with the first question:

Where in your life do you see mutualism — relationships where both sides thrive?

Think of real people.

A friend.
A partner.
A colleague.

Ask yourself:
Where is there giving and receiving?

Not perfect balance—just evidence that both are being strengthened.

Stay there for a moment.

Now move to the next question:

Where might you be living off mercy without noticing?

Think about what you receive daily:

patience,
support,
opportunities,
grace you didn’t earn.

Where have you benefited…

without saying thank you?

without giving anything back?

No judgment—just notice.

Now consider the hardest one:

What might be draining you — or what might you be draining?

Think in specifics:

a habit,
a pattern,
a relationship,
a way of thinking.

Ask:
Is something taking more than it gives?

And just as important:
Am I?

You don’t have to fix everything today.

Just name what you see.

Mutualism.
Mercy.
Drain.

That clarity is where change begins.
